EACC seizes former Machakos County CEC's assets worth Sh91m
Musyoka's assets have raised eyebrows due to the stark contrast between their value and his legitimate income sources.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has secured a court order to seize assets valued at Sh91,202,892 from Urbanus Wambua Musyoka, a former member of the Machakos County Executive Committee (CEC).
Justice P.J. Otieno delivered the ruling after investigations showed that Musyoka's tenure from January 2014 to July 2021 resulted in the acquisition of these assets through corrupt practices.

Among the seized assets are a residential building valued at Sh80,251,815 and Sh10,951,077 in cash, which were taken from his accounts at Co-operative Bank and Equity Bank.
Musyoka's assets have raised eyebrows due to the stark contrast between their value and his legitimate income sources. EACC investigations found that he benefitted from fraudulent tenders awarded to companies linked to family and friends, including Wafih International Limited and Wisdom Holdings Limited, which collectively received over Ksh457 million from the county government.
Alarmingly, these companies have accrued Sh181,722,145 in unpaid taxes. "The evidence points to a systemic abuse of power," noted a legal expert familiar with the case.
In November 2023, authorities arrested Musyoka and several associates and charged them with multiple offences, including conflict of interest. They have denied all charges, and the case continues at the Machakos Anti-Corruption Court.
