"We are experiencing a hitch on the pre-paid system which is affecting the generation of electricity tokens," Kenya Power said in their statement.
However, the company assured customers that they are working to restore normalcy within the shortest time possible as they apologised for the inconveniences caused by the hitch.
The hitch comes barely a day after Kenya Power Managing Director Joseph Siror explained the cause of recent power outages and rationing in various parts of Kenya, particularly in the Western Kenya and South Nyanza regions.
Siror on Tuesday attributed the challenges to constraints in the company's transmission network.
The MD explained that that longer transmission lines were more prone to issues, citing the line between Kibos and Awendo in the Western region of Kenya which faces constraints in capacity.
