EACC signs MoU with National Youth Council, seeks support in fight against corruption
According to EACC chairman, Bishop David Oginde, corruption is a moral crisis, but a great opportunity exists for the commission to partner with the youth.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Youth Council (NYC) to deepen its collaboration and partnership with the youth in the fight against corruption and promotion of good governance.
The MoU, aimed at establishing formal and structured ways of engagement between the Commission and the youth in preventing and combating corruption and economic crimes, will see EACC increase its engagement with the youth to promote ethics and integrity.

The EACC said the partnership will provide a platform for collaboration in the areas of empowerment and capacity building of the youth, information sharing, corruption prevention and review of policy and legal frameworks on good governance and the fight against corruption.
According to EACC chairman, Bishop David Oginde, corruption is a moral crisis, but a great opportunity exists for the commission to partner with the youth to provide a collective effort to advocate for integrity in the society.
"Partnership with the youth is critical since they have the energy, the voice and creativity to innovate solutions to current challenges in the country," said Oginde.
EACC CEO Abdi Mohamud, on his part, welcomed the partnership, noting that it is timely as it is part of the commission's wider strategy in enlisting the support of the public in the fight against corruption.
Mohamud assured of the EACC's commitment to implementing the MoU to realise the objectives, a position echoed by the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, Fikirini Jacobs, who expressed hope that the partnership will enable the youth to provide an invaluable contribution in the fight against corruption.
The signing was witnessed by EACC commissioners and senior NYC officers.
