Maraga pledges citizen-led movement, says his 2027 manifesto will be open to public input

The digital infrastructure, once fully operational, will allow citizens to propose ideas, raise concerns, and help shape the policies Maraga intends to champion if elected.

Former Chief Justice David Maraga has announced plans to open his 2027 presidential manifesto to public input, positioning his campaign as a citizen-led movement grounded in transparency, integrity, and constitutional values.

Maraga said his team is building a digital system to collect and organise public feedback on key policy issues. The goal, he explained, is to craft a manifesto that reflects the lived experiences and everyday realities of Kenyans across different regions and communities.

“We are working on a system to collect and collate feedback on key items in our manifesto, so this becomes a vision that we don’t just buy into, but one that we craft together,” Maraga said in  a statement.“Our campaign reminds me that the Kenyan spirit is well and truly alive, and I am deeply honoured to share this part of it with all of you.”

The digital infrastructure, once fully operational, will allow citizens to propose ideas, raise concerns, and help shape the policies Maraga intends to champion if elected. The system is part of a broader effort by his campaign to shift away from what he described as "predatory campaign politics" and toward more participatory, accountable leadership.

This comes just days after Maraga launched his official campaign website, davidmaraga.com, which includes a fundraising platform. The site allows supporters to donate as little as Sh50, intending to make campaign financing more inclusive.

Maraga had earlier said that the website, davidmaraga.com, raised over Sh500,000 within two days of its launch, with additional contributions coming from the diaspora in dollars. “That tells you Kenyans want change,” he said.

Maraga assured supporters that transparency, data protection, and accountability would remain central to how the campaign operates, both in managing finances and handling public input.

"We chose to move ahead, not with perfection, but with courage and hope that this will begin to change our predatory campaign politics, he said.

The former Chief Justice also expressed gratitude to thousands of Kenyans who have volunteered time, resources, and skills. He said volunteers would soon be contacted with a structured plan to help them contribute meaningfully to the campaign.
