Two Isiolo police officers slapped with Sh300,000 cash bail in bribery, robbery case
The Police Constables who were armed, are accused of extorting the bribe from a terror suspect they had arrested, as a condition for his release.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption on Monday through its Isiolo Regional Office arraigned before the Isiolo Anti-Corruption Court two police officers.
The two officers based in Merti, Isiolo County were accused of allegedly demanding and accepting a Sh50,000 bribe.

The duo denied all allegations levelled against them.
The court released them each on a cash bail of Sh300,000 each or a bond of Sh500,000.
Police constables David Irungu and Hassan Liban Hassan who were armed, are accused of extorting the bribe from a terror suspect they had arrested, as a condition for his release.
According to the charge sheet, Irungu and Hassan apprehended the suspect on allegations of being a member of the Al-Shabaab group.
EACC in a statement said the victim reported the incident to the anti-graft agency which launched an undercover operation.
The two were arrested by EACC detectives as they collected the bribe.
Further investigations revealed that the victim had Sh57,000 on him when he was arrested.
The money is suspected to have been stolen by the officers when frisking the suspect.
As a result, Irungu and Hassan faced additional charges of robbery with violence.
The case will be mentioned on May 27, 2024, for hearing.
