Iran has called for a united front among Islamic and Arab nations against Israel amid escalating tensions in the region. The call for solidarity comes as the West issued stern warnings against exacerbating the volatile situation, fearing a potential regional conflict.
Despite being accused of backing Hamas financially and militarily, Iran vehemently denied involvement in the recent attacks on Israel. President Ebrahim Raisi, in a phone call with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, emphasized the need for coordinated efforts against Israel, urging Islamic and Arab countries to unite against what he termed as the "genocide of the Palestinians."

With Tehran offering to host an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian is set to embark on a regional tour to promote Iran's initiatives, starting with visits to Iraq and Lebanon.
While several Arab countries have been striving to improve relations with Israel, Iran has consistently supported the Palestinian cause since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, positioning itself outside key Middle Eastern organizations such as the Arab League.
Western nations have refrained from directly accusing Iran of involvement in the recent attacks but have highlighted Iran's historical support for Hamas, indicating that it has enabled the group's hostile actions.
Amid the escalating tensions, international leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and US President Joe Biden, have cautioned Iran against exacerbating the conflict in the region. However, Iran's efforts to mobilize support against Israel have garnered a cautious response from regional players, including Saudi Arabia and Turkey, both of which have expressed their commitment to preventing any further escalation.
