INS Sumedha marks maiden entry by Indian Navy at Lamu Port
The High Commissioner of India to Kenya Namgya Khampa held discussions with Lamu Governor Issa Timamy to explore collaborative opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, administration, finance, and the blue economy.
The Indian Government's choice of Lamu Port for docking its Naval ship INS Sumedha, set to arrive this Friday, reflects a dedicated effort to strengthen the robust bilateral relationship between Kenya and India.
This is the first such trip by an Indian Naval Ship at the newly developed port.

During their stay in Lamu, the Indian Navy plans to conduct an eye medical camp at King Fahd Hospital, underscoring their commitment to community welfare.
Ahead of the ship's arrival, Namgya Khampa, the High Commissioner of India to Kenya, visited Lamu.
She held discussions with Lamu Governor Issa Timamy to explore collaborative opportunities aimed at bolstering capacities in sectors such as agriculture, administration, finance, and the blue economy.

Namgya Khampa's visit builds upon recent interactions between President William Ruto and President Droupadi Murmu during Ruto's invitation to India for a business and investment event in New Delhi last week.
Governor Timamy highlighted the clinic's potential to significantly improve the well-being of Lamu residents.
Last week during his two-day state visit to India, Ruto said the two countries were keen on enhancing trade, investment, education, digital economy, healthcare, research and agriculture among other areas of cooperation for the benefit of its people.
