Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has revealed crucial leads in the ongoing investigations into Monday's abduction of two Korean Missionaries in Marsabit County.

Reports indicated that the pair, David Lee, a South Korean male and his mother-in-law, were picked from their home at Odda area in Moyale Sub-County.

The man's last mobile signal was traced at Dabel area within the Kenya-Ethiopia border.

Eight people were the same night shot dead within Elledimtu along Forolle-Turbi road after a lorry they were traveling in was ambushed by assailants suspected to have crossed over from a neighbouring country.

They were part of a group of 10 who were aboard the vehicle that was allegedly transporting food towards Dukana area from Nairobi.

After killing the eight, the criminals set the bodies and the vehicle ablaze. One person escaped unhurt while the other was critically injured during the incident.

Masengeli on Thursday revealed that investigations into the twin incidents were underway and assured that those responsible will be brought to book.

"We are doing our best to ensure we trace and rescue the Missionaries and hand them to their families," he said.

He appealed to Kenyans to volunteer crucial information that would help in making a breakthrough in the matter, assuring that the information will be handled with utmost confidentiality.

The IG further reiterated the government's commitment to ending human and drug trafficking in the region which thrives due to the porous border.

He spoke when he visited Moyale accompanied by DCI boss Mohamed Amin on a fact finding mission.
