Health facilities in Wajir have received a consignment of assorted essential medicines donated by Save the Children to combat child illness in the region.

According to the county health department, the medicines flagged off at Wajir Afya House on Saturday, will be distributed to health facilities and community health promoters to ensure no child dies from preventable causes.

Dr Mohamed Kahiye, Wajir County Chief Officer for Health and Sanitation Services, said the project would help combat three main childhood illnesses: pneumonia, diarrhoea, and malaria, which are prevalent in the region.

"We are hopeful that this consignment will help reduce the threat posed by these three major diseases, and we will ensure all health facilities in the county receive the medicine consignment," he noted.
