Ruto: My debt audit plan will succeed with Raila's 'help'

President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring national resources are properly managed to reduce dependence on foreign debt.
Speaking during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Ruto emphasised the need for transparency and responsible borrowing.

As part of this effort, he vowed to conduct an audit of past debts to establish how much has been borrowed, how it has been used, and how it is being repaid.
The President acknowledged that his previous attempts to initiate the audit had failed but expressed optimism that working with Raila Odinga would lead to success.
"I attempted to set up this audit, it didn't work. I am confident that with this broad formation we will now be able to audit our debt," Ruto stated.

While reading the document, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar highlighted that both leaders were committed to tackling the country's debt crisis.
Ruto also pledged to strengthen institutions responsible for fighting corruption.
"We will fight corruption decisively and avoid wastage of public resources as well as uphold the rule of law and constitutionalism by ensuring government officials respect judicial decisions and protect the rights of all citizens," he said.
Additionally, the agreement proposes the creation of a legal and institutional framework to address leadership and integrity issues, specifically focusing on conflicts of interest among public servants.
