Gachagua now warns Raila against Ruto's "lies"

Gachagua said the recent failed bid by Raila to capture the African Union Commission Chairperson seat was a ploy by Ruto to keep the veteran politician from active politics.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who bitterly fell out with President William Ruto before getting hounded out of office has now warned Orange Democratic Movement Party Leader Raila Odinga against trusting the Head of State.
Speaking at a function where politician opposition Martha Karua was launching the rebranding of her Narc – Kenya Party to People's Liberation Party in Nairobi, Gachagua urged Raila to drop cooperation with Ruto, warning him that he risks losing out.

"I am sure even Mzee Tinga (Raila) will begin fighting him. He will confuse Raila until the end because he once told me that he would deal with him," claimed Gachagua.
Gachagua, whose sentiments bordered satire went further to say that even the recent failed bid by Raila to capture the African Union Commission Chairperson seat was a ploy by Ruto to keep the veteran politician from active politics in order to have him take over his ODM outfit.
"The day Raila wanted to seek an AUC bid I asked Ruto what was his interest in pushing for the Raila bid. He told me that he was planning to get rid of him and take over the leadership of the ODM Party," said Gachagua.
Lesson learned
Gachagua said he has learnt his lesson on working with Ruto and would not love the ills committed on him done to anyone else.
"So Bwana Tinga, you are listening to people who have experienced that man. We want to give you a small tip. Please stop your association with Ruto or else you will also cry the way I am crying," he added.
Gachagua asked former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to declare his political intentions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a radio interview on Wednesday, Gachagua revealed that he was unaware of the political standing of the former prime minister.
After Raila lost the AUC chairmanship seat to Djibouti candidate Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, the former Prime Minister said he would announce his next political move.
"We don't understand Raila Odinga and his intentions. We are waiting for him to clarify his position so we know how to coexist with him," Gachagua said.
"If he chooses to support Ruto, we will not try to stop him."

The former deputy president stated that he was open to working with him (Raila). "I want to take this opportunity to tell supporters of Raila Odinga from Nyanza that they should not fight the mountain people because we are not their enemies at all. We have no problem with Raila Odinga and ODM," Gachagua said.
Voter registration
During the interview, the former DP said their new outfit's motive is to unite Kenyans and mobilise them to register as voters.
"This is a new beginning and we are on the right footing so far. We will work with Kalonzo and while it is early to pick a flagbearer, our motive now is mobilising Kenyans to vote to send this administration home," Gachagua said.
Following his impeachment, Gachagua has been reaching out to political leaders, including those in the opposition, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Gachagua has met Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper, Martha Karua of the People's Liberation Party (PLP) and the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K)'s Eugene Wamalwa, among others.
On Thursday, other leaders who attended the launch of Karua's new party include Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, DAP- Kenya Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa, Former Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Mukhisa Kituyi, Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Business oligarch Jimi Wanjigi, Reform Strategist Peter Kagwanja and INJECT Party Leader Morara Kebaso.
