Ichung’wah firm after heckling during Ruto's Mt Kenya tour, vows to continue supporting President

Nyandarua Senator John Methu, who seemed to be enjoying Ichung’wah’s woes, mockingly posted in his X account that those who were speaking at the political meeting should have handsomely rewarded the residents with money before addressing them.
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has vowed to continue supporting President William Ruto in the Mt Kenya region, blaming his political opponents for the heckling he faced on Thursday.
Ichung’wah endured a hostile reception after he was heckled by an irate crowd in Ruto’s presence on Thursday during a public gathering in Nyanndarua.

He was among the dignitaries who accompanied the President during the launch of the Last Mile Connectivity in Ol Kalou Town, as Ruto continues to launch state projects in Mt Kenya.
Speaking to The Eastleigh Voice, the Kikuyu MP claimed the hecklers were mobilised by politicians from Nyandarua County who have their own turf wars in the gubernatorial contest.
He also pointed fingers at leaders whom he claimed are hell-bent on isolating the Mt Kenya region from the rest of the country in terms of development.
“The hecklers were mobilised and paid by the Nyandarua governor against the area's Woman Representative over their local gubernatorial politics. Still, I think there were also those organised by Senator John Methu against Hon Mwangi Kiunjuri and myself,” claimed Ichung’wah.
He explained that their firm stand against “mediocre” politics in the region, which he described as aimed at spreading hatred and dividing the people, is the reason for their encounter with hostile crowds.
In the particular political meeting, Nyandarua residents were fairly receptive during the president's address, but things took a different turn when the microphone was handed to the Kikuyu MP.
In videos seen by The Eastleigh Voice, the discontented crowd can be seen openly protesting Ichung’wah's address with jeers and whistles, briefly halting his address.
"Let me tell you. No one can shout me down. I cannot be intimidated," Ichung'wah can be heard saying after the first round of heckling.
Despite the noise, Ichung’wah tried to weather the storm through a greeting, which was only met with louder jeers.
"Mr President, the people of Kware know affordable housing is here, and all the work (placing cabro in affordable housing units) here should be given to the youth," Ichung'wah added in an apparent attempt to appease the crowd, who shouted him down in protest.
Ichung'wah, seemingly overwhelmed by the jeers from the mammoth crowd, gave in and passed the microphone back, but not without a parting shot.
Before handing over the microphone, Ichung'wah fired a warning to the crowd, saying, "I want to tell you, President Ruto, that here in Ol Kalou and the whole of Nyandarua, no one can intimidate me."
The Majority Leader was not the only one who had to endure a hostile crowd during the Nyandarua tour, as the county's Woman Representative, Faith Wairimu Gitau, was also jeered during her address.
