Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the Sunday incident in Kuria West, Migori County, during which a shoe was thrown at President William Ruto as he addressed a gathering in the Kehancha area.

Police officers privy to the investigation have revealed to The Eastleigh Voice that they are pursuing additional suspects who may have played a part in the incident, which they suspect was premeditated and politically motivated.

They are also narrowing down on one key person of interest who could significantly aid in the investigation.

President Ruto was struck by a flying shoe while addressing the rally in Kehancha town, in an unexpected incident captured on video and shared widely on social media.

The Eastleigh Voice captured the footage of the shoe striking the head of state in mid-speech. Despite the disruption, President Ruto remained composed and continued addressing the crowd.

The president's security team got hold of the perpetrators before they could escape the scene.

The president was in Migori as part of a developmental tour of the region. Earlier in the day, he attended an interdenominational prayer service at Kadika Primary School in Suna East.

He then proceeded to Piny Oyie, where he officially opened the Suna East Sub County Office and laid the foundation stone for the Suna West Technical and Vocational College.
