Karua embarks on plans to popularise Narc Kenya party in Northern Kenya

Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua reaffirmed her commitment to rebrand and mobilise grassroots support for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking in Wajir during her visit to popularise the party and revitalise the Wajir County branch, she said the party has formulated several strategies to spark change and unlock political success in the next general elections.

Karua explained the party's exit from the Azimio la Umoja coalition, saying political party coalitions are only necessary during elections when parties join forces to form a government and are not needed once elections are over.

"All political parties are created to form a government. We unite during elections as a coalition to mobilise a larger number. Once elections are over, every single party needs to continue to implement its programs and policies. Coalitions during post-elections will overshadow your purpose of existence," she said.

She stated that the Narc Kenya party is slated for a bigger mission, aiming to harness its strength.

"In the next two months, we will rebrand the party, adopting a new name easily identifiable to the people and new colours that symbolise the party's mandate. We will roll out massive grassroots support among other agendas that will popularise the party ahead of the next general election," Karua said.

"Any party that decides to form a coalition with our party in the next election will be welcome, but not now, since all our efforts are focused on the party's policies and programs," she added.

She also dismissed critics claiming the party failed to garner support during the last general election.

"For those who are saying the party has no Members of Parliament, we are telling them time will tell. UDA and Azimio were created just days before the election. We will exist and spark change," she claimed.

Her response comes following claims by Atandi Samuel Ununga, the Alego Usonga MP, who on Wednesday took to his official X account urging the Office of the Political Registrar to deregister Martha Karua's Narc Kenya for failing to garner at least five per cent of local votes cast in the general election.

Karua, who did not give much attention to the MP's statement, urged the residents of Wajir to join the party, saying it has a big vision for the marginalised regions of Kenya.

The Narc Kenya leader expressed her concern about how the region was neglected by past regimes, adding that she advocated for the Equalisation Fund, an idea borrowed from Canada, to help Northern Kenya have an affirmative plan that will bring it on par with other parts of the country.
