Five killed, 49 injured in road accident in Dodoma

Five people died and 49 others were injured after an AN Classic bus rammed into the rear of a cargo truck in Chigongwe area of Dodoma.
According to the Tanzania's Citizen, the bus was travelling between Dodoma and Kigoma.

Acting Dodoma Regional Police Commander Anania Amo said the incident occurred at approximately 10 pm on March 3.
Amo said that the bus, with registration number T405 BYS and driven by Swalehe Mnyapi, attempted to overtake the truck, which had the registration number T365 EDD and trailer T206 EEZ.
In the process, the bus rammed into the back of the truck, causing it to lose control and overturn.
The crash led to five deaths, 3 men and 2 women. And left 49 people injured.
The 48 injured are receiving treatment at Dodoma Regional Referral Hospital, while one is being treated at Benjamin Mkapa Zonal Referral Hospital for further care.
Eleven individuals sustained serious injuries to their legs.
Data from the Traffic Police Division suggests that the number of road accidents since September 2024 is on the rise, with 835 compared to 782 the previous year.
The primary causes of the accidents include speeding, alcohol consumption, poor infrastructure, and failure to adhere to traffic regulations.
