Turkana, Samburu counties help families to restock after livestock theft

In Turkana, families that lost their animals in protracted raids received eight goats each.

Communities in Turkana that were affected by livestock theft on Sunday benefited from a restocking programme targeting 54 families.

Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai led the restocking initiative in which families that lost their animals in protracted raids received eight goats each.

Noting that the programme will help families rebuild their livelihoods, Lomorukai assured that the county government will budget for a more comprehensive restocking initiative to support all affected people.

In a press release, the governor extended a message of hope and support to families traumatised by attacks.

The governor also distributed relief food to families affected by the drought.

In Samburu County, veterinary officials on Sunday inspected, branded and tagged 165 Sahiwal heifers ahead of a restocking exercise led by Governor Lati Lelit.
