Mandera's Umulkheir Kassim among best-performing woman reps

Mandera woman rep Sheikh Umulkheir Kassim has been ranked among the best-performing woman representatives in the country according to the latest poll by Infotrak.
Umul was ranked among the top 25 woman reps at position 18 with a score of 43 per cent.

However, in the poll, Kenyans have given woman reps a rather poor rating as compared to governors.
The top performing governor in the poll recorded a score of 70 per cent compared to only 50 per cent given to the top Woman rep - Turkana's Cecilia Asinyen and Kirinyaga's Jane Njeri.
Bensouda Atieno (Homa Bay) and Susan Ngugi (Tharaka Nithi) were ranked joint third with a score of 49 per cent.
West Pokot's Rael Chepkemoi, with a score of 48 per cent, rounded off the top five in the best 25 woman reps list according to Infotrak.

Dubbed the CountryTrak Performance Index 2023, the survey was conducted between July and September 2023, covering all 47 counties, 290 constituencies and 1,450 wards with an overall sample size of 58, 748.
The data was collected through Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI).
"This index is the first of its kind and magnitude in Kenya. It provides the county governments and other interested stakeholders with robust statistics by ward on the perception of county residents over county governors' performance," Infotrak said.
