Garissa family appeals for help over their missing daughter

By |

"We are appealing to members of the public, especially those in Mandera town and the neighbouring towns of Ethiopia and Somalia, to help us trace our missing daughter," the sister pleaded.

A family in Garissa has appealed for help in locating their 17-year-old daughter, Zeinab Bakat Muhumed, who went missing for the last three days.

Ebla Bakat Muhumed, the missing girl's elder sister, said her sibling was taking care of her ailing elder father, whose condition had worsened since her disappearance.

“My sick and elderly father has since stopped eating; he is really disturbed, and the family is in a stressful situation," she claimed.

She voiced concerns that her younger sister might have fallen into the wrong hands after not responding to calls.

However, a day after her mysterious disappearance, her sister unexpectedly called back, revealing she was in Mandera town pursuing a job before the conversation was abruptly interrupted.

She informed the Eastleigh Voice, "Just before she could explain what kind of job she was pursuing, someone snatched her phone and switched it off."

Ebla said her mother, Fatuma Ismail, reported the incident to the Garissa Police Station, where they were promised to help track her.

Ebla said the family suspects social media may have influenced their daughter and fears human traffickers, who have recently intensified efforts to traffic children to Libya for ransom, might have exploited her.

"We are appealing to members of the public, especially those in Mandera town and the neighbouring towns of Ethiopia and Somalia, to help us trace our missing daughter," she pleaded.

She said the police have yet to determine the details of her disappearance but remain hopeful about the rescue of their younger missing daughter.
