“Kenya is a beautiful country. The people are wonderful, the weather is great, and I love the food. I am planning to buy an apartment and stay here after my contract with Gor Mahia ends,” Mihic said.
The 48-year-old coach contrasted life in Kenya with Europe, describing the latter as a place filled with pressure and stress.
“Life in Europe can be very tough. There are a lot of depressed people over there. In Kenya, there is peace and tranquility that I enjoy. Of course, there is the chaos of the matatus and everything else, but those are things I have adjusted to,” he added.
Mihic’s lively personality was on full display during the media session. As journalists set up their cameras and microphones, he broke the silence with an unexpected question.
“What do you think about Croatian football?” he asked, turning the press conference into an animated discussion before team captain Philemon Otieno’s arrival steered the conversation back to the upcoming AFC Leopards vs Gor Mahia derby set for Sunday at 4 p.m. at Nyayo National Stadium.

When asked about his knowledge of Zdravko Logarusic, the Croatian coach who managed Gor Mahia between 2012 and 2013, Mihic made a surprising admission.
“I have been a coach for 26 years, and I have never heard of Zdravko Logarusic. I do not know him,” Mihic stated firmly.
His comment raised eyebrows, given Logarusic’s high-profile coaching stints across Africa, including Ghana, Sudan, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. Despite the lack of familiarity, Mihic took the opportunity to reflect on his coaching journey.
“I started coaching in 1999 when I was 22 years old. I chose that path after ending my playing career due to asthma,” he revealed.
Now leading Gor Mahia, Mihic has embraced the Kenyan football culture and enjoys engaging with locals in everyday conversations about life and football.
“I meet Kenyans from all walks of life every day, and we talk about the challenges we are experiencing and how we can overcome them,” he said.
