Janan was reportedly abducted from his South B home by unknown people on January 10, 2024.

Former Jubaland Security Minister Abdirashid Hassan Abdinur alias Janan returned home safely on Saturday.

A family member who sought anonymity told Eastleigh Voice that the former minister went missing ten days but he is now safe at home.

“The Minister returned home last night some minutes past midnight. He is in good health but tired. He is safe. He is taking some rest as we speak,” the family member said.

On Saturday morning, family members and supporters gathered at his home at Diamond II in South B after reports that he had returned home.

“He has not spoken to us yet on what happened. He said he is fatigued and needs to rest first.”

Janan was reportedly abducted from his South B home by unknown people on January 10, 2024.

His abduction caused tension in Gedo, Somalia, his political stronghold.

Jubbaland administration and family demanded that Kenya security trace the former minister’s whereabouts.

Current Jubbaland Security Minister Yusuf Hussein Osman has also confirmed that Janan is alive and back at his home in South B.

Janan was declared a fugitive after he led his troops to fight with the Somalia National Army in Bulahawo from March 2020 to January 2021.

The fighting spilt over into neighbouring Mandera, Kenya. He later struck a deal with former President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo.

Janan relocated to Nairobi in 2021 after he was sacked by President  Madobe at the height of the political tension between the regional state and the Farmaajo administration.
