Three other terrorists were injured after a direct targeting of their hideout, the agency added.
"The operation was launched after receiving intelligence information that confirmed that the Khawarij were planning to carry out security attacks between Mogadishu and Balad," said NISA.
The agency added that a militia of 40 members was being prepared at the site of the attack, but the operation destroyed the tent where they were hiding.
"The operation was successfully completed, with the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) completely thwarting the Khawarij's plans to carry out terrorist acts. It added that there were no civilian casualties during the operation.
The killing of the seven comes two days after Al-Shabaab attacked the Jilacow Investigation Centre in Mogadishu.
According to the Government of Somalia, security forces swiftly neutralised the assailants, preventing further loss of life.
A statement from the Ministry of Internal Security added that seven militia members behind the attack were killed by security agencies
"It is worth noting that the terrorists used an Abdi-Bilaha vehicle that they had spray-painted with the colours and insignia of the security forces, and wore uniforms that resembled military uniforms. This enabled them to easily pass through security checkpoints in the capital, as no formal checks were conducted on armed forces vehicles," the ministry said.
"This highlights the urgent need to monitor and control vehicles painted in military colours within the capital. It is essential to fully implement the rules, procedures, and administrative decisions regarding the capital's security and arms control."
The incident happened a day after the militia suffered a major defeat in the Lower Shabelle region, where the areas of Awdheegle, Raqayle, Shaangarre and Malabo were liberated by security agencies.
"Also, in the past 24 hours, heavy shelling in the areas of Jilib, Mubarak, Ugunji and Kunya-Barrow killed senior leaders of the Al-Shabaab, including the deputy head of the Al-Amniyyad group and the head of the explosives service and procurement. conspirator Mohamed Osman Mohamed (Tuutax)," the Ministry added.
