Kenya Academy of Sports drawn in Group A for CAF girls’ U17 tournament

The Kenya Academy of Sports (K.A.S) Under-17 team has been placed in Group A for the inaugural Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT). The draw, conducted on January 4, 2025, sets the stage for this groundbreaking initiative by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), aimed at advancing women's football across Africa.
Scheduled to run from January 7 to 18, 2025, the tournament will be hosted at the Azam Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It features eight teams from the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) region, split into two groups of four.

Group B: TDS Girls Academy (Tanzania), Aigle Noir FC (Burundi), Boni Consilli Girls Vocational Team (Uganda), and Hilaad FC (Somalia).
Beyond the competition, CAF has partnered with Azam TV and CAF TV (CAF’s official YouTube channel) to provide live coverage of all matches, ensuring accessibility across the continent.
On the sidelines of the tournament, CAF has also organised:
A CAF D-License Coaching Course: To support grassroots football coaching development.
A Media Workshop: Designed to promote best practices in communication and media engagement.
The tournament will include community-focused activities such as a girls’ football festival, sports clinics, and health awareness campaigns in partnership with UEFA. These initiatives aim to inspire young girls and leave a lasting positive impact on the local communities in Tanzania.
