“The games are difficult, and it’s our first match. Normally, first matches are always tough because players are not in their full form. But I think how they handled the game till the last minute was impressive,” Kimanzi said.
He defended his decision not to make early substitutions, saying the final minutes are crucial for either protecting a lead or pushing for another goal.
“Normally in the last minutes, you have something to protect. You must maintain your game and result while also trying to get the second goal. But it was a good game. We’ve finished this, and we’ll plan for the next one,” he added.
Kenya will face Kilimanjaro Stars on January 7, 2025, at Gombani Stadium, hoping to secure their first win in the tournament.
