NSL: Nairobi United back on top as Ouya’s brace sinks Migori Youth

Nairobi United returned to the top of the FKF National Super League with a 2-1 victory over Migori Youth, courtesy of Frank Ouya’s brace. The win took them to 37 points, reclaiming first place from APS Bomet. Elsewhere, Fortune Sacco dropped points against MOFA, Naivas stretched their unbeaten run, and Vihiga United picked up a crucial win.

Nairobi United reclaimed the top spot in the FKF National Super League with a 2-1 win over Migori Youth at the M-Pesa Foundation Grounds. Frank Ouya was the hero, scoring twice to secure all three points for the league leaders.

Nairobi United had started the day second with 34 points, having been briefly overtaken by APS Bomet, who defeated Luanda Villa 2-0 on Saturday. Ouya put Nairobi United ahead in the 21st minute, but Paul Odhiambo equalised for Migori Youth in the 32nd minute. The deadlock lasted until the 64th minute, when Ouya struck again to seal Nairobi United’s fourth consecutive victory, pushing them back to the summit with 37 points.

The defeat extended Migori Youth’s winless run to six matches, leaving them 10th on the table with 17 points.

Weekend NSL action

At Kianyaga Stadium in Kirinyaga, Fortune Sacco were held to a 1-1 draw by MOFA, leaving them fourth with 32 points, while MOFA stayed fifth with 30. The result was a setback for Fortune Sacco, who dropped to fourth as Kibera Black Stars leapfrogged them into third after a 2-0 win over Dimba Patriots on Saturday.

In Machakos, Naivas edged Kisumu All Stars 2-1 to extend their unbeaten streak to seven matches, moving up to seventh with 26 points. Kisumu All Stars, recently hit by the termination of their sponsorship deal with the Kisumu County Government, remained ninth with 23 points as their winless run stretched to six matches.

At KIHBT Grounds, Vihiga United ended a three-match winless run with a 1-0 victory over Sam West Blackboots. The result lifted Vihiga United to 13th with 21 points, while Blackboots stayed 12th with 22 points. At the Marist Grounds in Karen,

Meanwhile, 3K FC got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over bottom-placed SS Assad in Kwale. SS Assad’s struggles continued, with their losing streak now at seven matches, keeping them rooted at the bottom with nine points. The win propelled 3K FC to eighth with 23 points, ending their eight-game winless run.
