Omanyala sprints to third at ASA Grand Prix in Pretoria

Ferdinand Omanyala marked his return to international competition with a third-place finish at the ASA Grand Prix in Pretoria, clocking 10.22 seconds in a tightly contested 100m race. His compatriot, Mark Otieno, finished fourth as South Africa’s Karabo Letebele took victory in a photo finish.
Commonwealth Games champion Ferdinand Omanyala finished third in the men’s 100m at the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Grand Prix I, held at Pilditch Stadium in Pretoria on Wednesday evening. His compatriot, Mark Otieno, followed closely, securing fourth place in a highly competitive race.
The race featured a strong field of sprinters, with South Africa’s Karabo Letebele clinching victory in a personal best time of 10.19 seconds. Emile Erasmus also clocked 10.19 seconds, finishing second in a photo finish.
Omanyala crossed the line in 10.22 seconds to take third place, while Otieno clocked 10.39 seconds for fourth.

This was Omanyala’s first international race since September last year when he won the men’s 100m in Brussels with a time of 10.07 seconds. Otieno’s last overseas competition was at the Wiesław Maniak Memorial in Poland last August, where he finished third in 10.60 seconds.
