Pipeline captain Gladys Ekaru confident ahead of African Volleyball Club Championship
The tournament, scheduled to run from April 1 to April 14, will bring together 24 teams from across the continent, all eyeing the prestigious title.
Kenya will be well represented at the 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship in Abuja, Nigeria, with three top clubs, Kenya Pipeline, Kenya Prisons, and KCB Volleyball Team, set to compete.

Captain Gladys Ekaru of Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Club remains optimistic about the challenge ahead but acknowledges the difficulty of the competition. She emphasises the team's commitment to delivering their best performance on the continental stage.
“To the fans, what I ask from them is their prayers. We want to assure them that we are ready and will not disappoint. The team is well prepared, and we are ready for whatever comes our way,” Ekaru said.
The captain also had a message for her teammates, reminding them of their ultimate goal of claiming the coveted championship.
“My message to my teammates is that we are going for the championship. Although the task ahead is not easy, given the rival teams and the new environment, we must stay focused and give our best,” she affirmed.
Kenya Pipeline, a six-time African champion, will be looking to reclaim continental glory, while Kenya Prisons, a former powerhouse in African women’s volleyball, aims to make a strong statement. KCB Volleyball Team completes Kenya’s representation, as all three clubs strive to leave a mark in the tournament.
