Police pull clear, City Stars keep survival hopes alive in FKFPL shake-up

Kenya Police opened a five-point gap in the FKF Premier League title race while Nairobi City Stars sparked fresh hope in their survival bid as Matchweek 30 delivered pivotal results.
Kenya Police FC tightened their grip on the FKF Premier League title race with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bandari FC at the Mbaraki Sports Club, extending their lead at the top of the table to five points as Matchweek 30 delivered pivotal results in both the title and relegation battles.
Marvin Nabwire’s first-half goal proved decisive in Mombasa, handing Etienne Ndayiragije’s side another vital three points and completing a season double over the Dockers, having beaten them 3-0 in the reverse fixture. Police remain unbeaten in their last three matches and now appear increasingly in control as the season nears its climax.
Earlier in the day, Nairobi City Stars reignited their battle for survival with a spirited 3-2 win over Mara Sugar at the Dandora Stadium. Salim Odeka opened the scoring before Vincent Owino and Hansel Ochieng added two more to lift Simba wa Nairobi out of a three-match slump. Mara Sugar, who are winless in nine straight matches, mounted a late fightback through a Dennis Cheruiyot brace, but it wasn’t enough to prevent yet another blow in their debut top-flight season.

Meanwhile in Machakos, KCB’s poor form continued as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat against a determined Shabana FC at Kenyatta Stadium. Keith Imbali's first-half goal secured the win for Shabana and left the Bankers winless in seven games—a run that is putting mounting pressure on head coach Patrick Odhiambo. The former Wazito boss had recently admitted his side’s performances had fallen well below expectations.

For Shabana, the win marked a timely response to last weekend’s loss to Gor Mahia. They have now suffered just one defeat in their last nine league outings, slowly edging away from the relegation zone.
