FKF Premier League ends sponsorship drought with Sh1.12 billion deal
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League has landed a Sh1.12 billion, ten-year sponsorship deal with a local gaming firm, signalling a major financial boost for Kenya’s top football league after years without an official sponsor.
Announced on Thursday, the agreement includes Sh85 million earmarked for the 2025/2026 season alone, and grants the gaming company exclusive naming rights to the league.

The deal marks the return of the sponsor to Kenyan football, following a previous partnership between 2015 and 2019 that ended due to regulatory hurdles such as suspended paybill numbers and delayed licensing.
According to the agreement, 60 per cent of the sponsorship funds will be allocated directly to clubs, with the remainder supporting administrative and operational needs to strengthen the league’s management.
FKF President Hussein Mohammed has hailed the deal as a turning point, noting the league’s struggles since losing its last sponsor in 2021.
"A transformative chapter begins for Kenyan football. After enduring challenges in attracting sponsorship, this renewed support signals hope and progress," said Hussein.
His sentiments were echoed by the sponsor’s CEO, who expressed confidence in the league’s revival, adding that with proper support and long-term investment, Kenyan football could reclaim its past glory.
“We are excited to rekindle this partnership. Football in Kenya has so much potential. With consistent effort, we believe the golden days can return,” the CEO said.
According to FKF, the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season will kick off in September, slightly later than usual due to Kenya’s role as co-host of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in August.
The new season will begin with the FKF Super Cup clash between Kenya Police FC and Mozzart Bet Cup winners Nairobi United on September 13.
The official calendar, which also outlines schedules for the lower divisions and domestic cup competitions, places the National Super League’s start date on September 13, while the FKF Women’s Premier League and FKF Division One are slated for September 27.
On the other hand, the Women’s Super League and men’s Division One will follow on October 4.
