The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned Gor Mahia FC over a matchday security breach that occurred during their league opener against Bidco United on September 21, 2025, at Kasarani Stadium.
The incident, which involved sections of fans forcing their way into the venue, triggered an investigation by the federation’s disciplinary arm, culminating in a fine and formal warning to the record league champions.

In a statement dated October 31, 2025, the FKF Disciplinary Committee found Gor Mahia culpable for failing to maintain adequate order and security during the fixture.
Despite outsourcing ticketing and access control to third-party vendors, the committee reaffirmed that the club bears a “non-delegable duty of care” to ensure safety, order, and effective supervision at its matches.
The committee ruled that under the principle of Strict Liability, a club remains responsible for incidents occurring in or around the stadium, regardless of fault or negligence.
Gor Mahia was fined Sh300,000, payable within 14 days, and formally warned to exercise greater diligence in future. The committee further cautioned that any recurrence of similar incidents would attract stiffer sanctions.
While the off-pitch matter draws scrutiny, on the field, Gor Mahia continue to demonstrate why they are considered the gold standard of Kenyan football.
After five rounds of the league, the champions have yet to concede a goal in open play. Their only blemish this season came from the penalty spot on opening day, when Bidco United’s Newton Ochieng scored in a 1-0 defeat, a match now under the spotlight due to the crowd breach.
Since that setback, Charles Akonnor’s side has been flawless, stringing together four consecutive wins marked by defensive solidity and clinical finishing. K’Ogalo’s clean-sheet run includes victories over Sofapaka (2-0), KCB FC (1-0), Posta Rangers (3-0), and most recently, Mathare United (2-0).
Against Mathare at Kasarani, goals from Shariff Musa and Bryson Wangaya sealed another commanding performance. The defence, led by Sylvester Owino and Michael Kibwage, has remained nearly impenetrable, with goalkeeper Bryne Omondi rarely tested in recent outings.
Gor Mahia’s blend of defensive discipline and attacking precision has propelled them to the top end of the table as they pursue a record-extending 21st league title. However, the club must now address the federation’s concerns over crowd management to ensure that success on the pitch is matched by professionalism off it.
The FKF noted that a detailed legal analysis of the ruling will be issued on November 4, 2025, after which Gor Mahia will be entitled to lodge an appeal in accordance with the federation’s rules and regulations.
“The Reasoned Decision, containing the detailed legal analysis, will be issued on 4 November 2025, upon which the club’s right of appeal shall commence as provided under the FKF Rules & Regulations (2024),” the statement reads in part.
