Additionally, a dedicated Songwriter Music Tab allows them to display tracks they have written or co-written, making it easier for fans, fellow artists, and industry professionals to explore their catalogue. According to TikTok, the new features are designed to help songwriters share their stories, gain exposure, and form connections with potential collaborators or clients.
“The new features mean that songwriters' musical works and their shared content will sit side by side in one place on TikTok for the first time,” TikTok said in a statement.
These additions build on TikTok’s existing creator support tools, such as the #BehindTheSong campaign and Add to Music App integration.
Currently, the Songwriter Features are only available to a limited group of users through a closed beta test, with broader access expected in the future.
TikTok has not yet confirmed whether the rollout includes other countries apart from the UK and the US, but songwriters worldwide can join a waitlist to express interest.
TikTok says the tools were developed in response to extensive feedback from songwriters and aim to support discovery, recognition, and monetisation.
Prominent songwriters such as Lauren Christy, Toby Gad, and Justin Tranter are already participating in the beta phase.
For now, Kenyan songwriters interested in joining should sign up for the waitlist and monitor TikTok’s updates for wider rollout information soon.
