Tusker FC has parted ways with coach Robert Matano and eleven key players ahead of the new season
Tusker FC finds itself at a crossroads as it navigates significant departures that mark a pivotal moment in the club's recent history. Robert Matano, one of Kenya's most successful coaches, has parted ways with the team after a six-year tenure characterized by both triumph and turmoil.
His departure, alongside 11 key first-team players whose contracts have expired, signals a period of profound transition for the club.
Matano, affectionately known as ‘The Lion’ for his uncompromising approach, arrived at Tusker FC in 2018 with a singular objective of reclaiming the FKF Premier League title from Gor Mahia who had established a four-year streak.

His tenure culminated in breaking Gor Mahia's four-year dominance by clinching the league in the 2020/2021 season, cementing his legacy as the most decorated local coach in the league. However, clashes with the club hierarchy, notably chairman Charles Gacheru, marred his final season, ultimately leading to his departure despite initial preseason preparations.
Simultaneously, Tusker FC bid farewell to 11 first-team players whose contracts have ended. This mass exodus, which includes notable names like Eric Kapaito and Daniel Sakari, signifies a deliberate move by the club to refresh its squad and recalibrate for future campaigns.

As Tusker FC prepares for the upcoming season, the spotlight now shifts to the future endeavors of both Matano and the departing players. With Matano's coveted coaching pedigree and extensive experience across various Kenyan clubs, his availability in the transfer market is expected to attract significant interest.
While the departures of Matano and the first-team players pose immediate challenges for Tusker FC, they also present opportunities for renewal and growth.
The club's ability to navigate this transitional phase effectively will shape its trajectory in the upcoming season and beyond, defining whether Tusker FC can sustain its legacy of success in Kenyan football.
