Additionally, two suspects with contraband milk products from Malaysia were apprehended during the operation. The DCI confirmed that the suspects are currently undergoing processing for arraignment.
This development follows the recent arrest of five individuals linked to the illegal sale of contraband milk powder. The DCI revealed that an undercover operation led to the arrest of the suspects, who were allegedly selling milk products worth Sh815,000. During the operation, 25 kg of cream milk powder (branded Fresh Dairy, a product of Brookside Uganda), 77 containers of APTAMIL breast milk (from the United Kingdom), and 20 containers of NESTLE NAN OPTIPRO (from Mexico) were recovered.
In a statement, the DCI explained, 'Our officers posed as buyers, making a deal with the suspects. A down payment was made, and when the 'furious sellers' were asked for more time to collect the balance, our investigative teams were called in to apprehend the suspects.'"
