Kenya Cup 2025: KDF, GSU, KPA, and Kenya Prisons storm into men’s volleyball semifinals
Four of Kenya’s top volleyball sides - KDF, GSU, KPA, and Kenya Prisons, have advanced to the semifinals of the inaugural Kenya Cup men’s tournament after a thrilling day of quarterfinal action at the Nyayo National Stadium Basketball Court.
The inaugural Kenya Cup men’s volleyball tournament reached a thrilling crescendo on Sunday, as four of the country’s elite teams, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), General Service Unit (GSU), Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), and Kenya Prisons, booked their spots in the semifinals after a highly competitive day of quarterfinal action at the Nyayo National Stadium Basketball Court.
In the opening fixture, KDF showcased resilience and tactical strength, rallying from a set down to defeat Administration Police (AP) 3-1. After losing the first set 23-25, KDF regrouped to take the next three sets 25-23, 25-17, and 25-21, becoming the first side to qualify for the semifinals.

They were soon joined by a spirited GSU team that battled past a stubborn KAPU side in a tightly contested encounter. GSU took the first set 28-26, but KAPU responded by edging the second 28-26. However, GSU took control in the final sets, winning 25-15 and 25-17 to seal a 3-1 victory.
The afternoon clash saw Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) assert dominance with a commanding 3-0 win over Trailblazers. KPA dictated the tempo from the first whistle, taking the sets 25-16, 25-18, and 25-20 to secure a clean passage to the last four.
Capping off the action-packed quarterfinals was Kenya Prisons, who outclassed Equity Bank in straight sets. In a match that tested mental discipline and defensive organization, Prisons emerged 3-0 winners with set scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-23, sealing the final semifinal berth.
With KDF, GSU, KPA, and Kenya Prisons through, the stage is now set for high-stakes semifinal clashes scheduled for July 12th and 13th, 2025, as the race to lift the first-ever Kenya Cup men’s volleyball title intensifies.
