Deputy President Kithure Kindiki recalled the 1982 coup attempt and 2007/08 post-election violence as stark reminders of the cost of political unrest, noting the lasting pain and destruction. “We lost lives and property worth billions. While we uphold constitutional freedoms, no one will be allowed to abuse them to threaten national peace,” he said.
