Bradley Namlanda, a blood mobiliser with Nairobi County, says myths and misconceptions still hinder regular blood donation. "Some believe blood is sold, others are held back by superstitions. Most people only donate during emergencies, which weakens the blood bank system," he noted. He stresses that consistent donations are vital for preventing maternal deaths: "The treatment for Postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) is blood, and when we don’t have enough, mothers suffer.
