Three charged with murder of 17-year-old Gaala Adan in Wajir

According to reports, Gaala Adan, born on January 1, 2008, was married to Mohammed Kassim Tiffow, 40, in a ceremony on February 22, 2025, at the Dagahaley Refugee Camp in line with Somali cultural practices.

Three suspects have been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old refugee girl in Wajir County by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) at the Garissa High Court.

The accused, Mohammed Kassim Tiffow, Mussa Sheikh Ahmed, and Adan Mohamme Ahmed, are facing allegations that they killed Gaala Adan on March 22, 2025, in the Lolkuta South Sub-location, Wara Location, Hadado Sub-County.

The charges stem from an investigation prompted by the DPP’s directive to exhume the deceased’s body and carry out a postmortem by a government pathologist to determine the actual cause of death.

The accused were initially charged after the postmortem revealed details surrounding the tragic event.

Until the next hearing on May 15, 2025, the accused will remain in custody at Garissa GK prison.
