Wanjigi, who was arrested on Monday, August 20, was accused of being in possession of illegal firearms.

Politician Jimi Wanjigi was released today on a Sh10 million bond after being arraigned at the Miliman Law Courts on Tuesday, August, 20.

Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi also ordered him to surrender his passport ahead of taking a plea on September 12.

Wanjigi, who was arrested on Monday, August 20, was accused of being in possession of illegal firearms.

He spent a night at Kamukunji Police Station before he was arraigned in court today morning.

However, his lawyers, comprising Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Paul Muite, John Khaminwa and  Willis Otieno applied to have the plea taking deferred, arguing that his rights were violated.

In their defence, they stated that an earlier high court order issued by Justice Bahati Mwamuye barred his arrest and detention.
