The World Food Program (WFP) deployed Mi-8 helicopters to airlift food to sub-counties in Garissa County, where roads were cut off by the El Nino rains. The delivery of life-saving assistance, including government relief food and drugs, to Fafi, Ijara, Holugho, and Bodhai sub-counties is a response to a formal request by the national and county governments for intervention due to access constraints.
Fafi Member of Parliament Salah Yakub expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that enabled the airlifting of food and non-food items to Fafi Centre in Fafi constituency. He emphasized that this was a crucial step in providing essential support to the communities in Fafi Center that were displaced after being marooned by flash floods.
