Mvurya announced the formation of a local committee to ensure area residents benefit from the event. “The whole government is involved in making this a success. We want full participation and to leave a lasting impact after the rally,” he stated. He backed the LOC, led by CEO Charles Gacheru, to deliver a world-class event.
Sports Principal Secretary Peter Tum highlighted environmental conservation and community involvement as key priorities. “We have a strong track record in hosting international events. This year’s rally will be better because we’ve listened to the people,” Tum said.
Local leaders pledged support, with Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara urging timely training for marshals to maximise local participation. The rally will be flagged off in Nairobi by President William Ruto before heading to Kasarani for the Super Special Stage and then to Naivasha for the main competition.
To enhance fan experience, Gacheru announced plans for a Rally Village at Morendat Farm, where spectators can interact with WRC stars. “We are making the rally more accessible, including free-to-air broadcasts across East Africa,” he said.
The prize-giving ceremony will again be held at Hell’s Gate, the venue for the Wolf Power Stage, which awards additional championship points. This year’s edition will also count as a round of the Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) and the FIA African Rally Championship (ARC), featuring Kenyan drivers.
With entries capped at 50 cars for safety, top contenders include reigning world champion Thierry Neuville, two-time WRC champion Kalle Rovanperä, and eight-time Safari winner Sébastien Ogier.
