The Cabinet has approved the hosting of the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally, scheduled for March 20-23, 2025, in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

The rally will begin with ceremonial flag-offs at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) and Kasarani in Nairobi before moving to Hell’s Gate in Naivasha, where the main stages will take place.
This decision follows a multi-agency security meeting held on March 5 at the Simba Auditorium, KCB Towers, Upper Hill in Nairobi, led by Assistant Inspector General of Police Stephen Etyang, to ensure a smooth and secure event.
During the security meeting, representatives from the National Police Service (NPS), Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), National Youth Service (NYS), and other agencies convened to discuss security measures for the event.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Security Officer Stephen Etyang emphasised the importance of the rally and the need for tight security.
“This signifies a major milestone for the 2025 Safari Rally in Kenya. It showcases our unwavering dedication to supporting sports, particularly enhancing security and nurturing a culture of excellence. The collaboration among security agencies in preparation for the World Rally Championship in Naivasha is commendable,” Etyang stated.
He further assured that the National Police Service has implemented strict security measures to ensure law and order throughout the rally.
Etyang also highlighted the significance of the Safari Rally as one of only 13 global WRC events and the sole African host.
“The Safari Rally in Kenya is renowned not only for its challenging rally stages but also for its breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and the exceptional hospitality of the Kenyan people. It presents a truly remarkable experience that seamlessly combines the thrill of motorsport with Kenya’s natural beauty,” he said.
