Police caution road users, spectators to observe safety during WRC Safari Rally
Bus and lorry drivers have been directed to refrain from obstructing traffic along the Naivasha-Nakuru Road to ensure smooth movement and avoid congestion.
All road users and spectators have been warned to exercise extreme caution as authorities bolster security ahead of the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally.
The prestigious event will take place from March 20 to March 23, 2025 in Naivasha, and is expected to attract thousands of spectators and international coverage.

In a statement on Wednesday, the National Police Service (NPS) assured the public of its readiness to ensure safety and security throughout the rally period including deploying additional officers.
"We have deployed additional traffic police officers on the roads to ensure the free flow of traffic. In addition, we are collaborating with the National Transport and Safety Authority to conduct road safety compliance checks," the police said.
With the onset of the long rains, the NPS has urged all road users to remain vigilant. Bus and lorry drivers have been directed to refrain from obstructing traffic along the Naivasha-Nakuru Road to ensure smooth movement and avoid congestion.
"We appeal to motorists, pedestrians, and all other road users to exercise extreme caution and adhere to traffic rules to prevent accidents. We particularly urge bus and lorry drivers to refrain from parking along the Naivasha–Nakuru Road or causing obstructions," NPS said.
Authorities have also called on rally enthusiasts and the public to follow all directives issued by event organisers and law enforcement officers.
"These directives include, but are not limited to, using alternative routes or rescheduling travel plans to ensure the smooth running of the event," the police said.
To enhance public safety, the NPS has encouraged citizens to report any criminal activities or violations through police stations or toll-free numbers.
"As a service, we reaffirm our commitment to serve and protect," the police assured, highlighting their dedication to ensuring a safe and successful rally experience for all.
Safari Rally Kenya is one of the most anticipated motorsport events globally, renowned for its challenging rally stages and breathtaking scenery.
The competition is expected to draw over 100,000 spectators and be broadcast in 170 countries, reaching an estimated 120 million viewers.
The exposure is expected to significantly boost the tourism and hospitality sectors.
