The court clerk asked her three times if she understood the charge she was accused of to which she replied in the affirmative.
The main suspect in the killing of Nairobi Hospital Acting Finance Director Eric Maigo has pleaded guilty to murder charges.
Anne Adhiambo Ouma on Thursday appeared before High Court Judge Kanyi Kimondo where she confessed to killing Maigo.
The plea comes just two weeks after the prosecution told the court she was fit to stand trial.
An age and mental assessment conducted at the Mathari Hospital in Nairobi confirmed she is a Kenyan adult of sound mind.
The court clerk asked her three times if she understood the charge she was accused of to which she replied in the affirmative.
Judge Kimondo, however, directed her to consult with her lawyer so as to get a clearer understanding of her plea.
She will appear before Judge Diana Mochache on November 8 at the Kibera Law Court for a second plea taking.
Maigo was found killed with 25 stab wounds at his Woodley Estate residence in Nairobi on September 15.
Adhiambo was captured on CCTV escaping from the scene of Maigo’s murder on the morning of the same day at the estate.
She was arrested at the Olympic area in Kibra by detectives and later recorded a statement.
