Education PS orders arrest, interdiction of Alliance Girls teacher over sexual misconduct claims

Bitok said the Ministry had engaged the TSC to initiate the teacher’s interdiction, as part of broader efforts to root out similar misconduct in schools nationwide.

Basic Education PS Julius Bitok has called for the arrest of Mr Peter Ayiro, the Alliance Girls High School teacher accused of grooming or engaging in sexual relationships with students, emphasising the government’s zero-tolerance policy on teacher-student romantic involvement.

He added that the Ministry had engaged the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to initiate the teacher’s interdiction, as part of broader efforts to root out similar misconduct in schools nationwide.

"We are not going to condone any behaviour where teachers or any other stakeholders in schools take advantage of our children. We want to condemn with the strongest terms possible those behaviours of teachers or any characters or staff within the school community who want to take advantage of our children sexually.

"That teacher is going to be punished, is going to be interdicted, we have talked to TSC and all the other stakeholders to ensure that he is arrested and it's not only Alliance, any other school in the country, that behaviour must stop," the PS said during a thanksgiving ceremony at Kapkoros Barngetuny Secondary School.

Exposed

The teacher was exposed following an investigation by African Uncensored compiled over four years, dubbed The Teacher and the System-The Story Behind the Story.

The exposé presents a series of testimonies and analyses detailing actions by the teacher that point to a disturbing pattern of calculated grooming. These included granting special privileges, frequent one-on-one interactions, emotionally charged communication, and physical displays of affection—all of which blurred the professional boundaries between teacher and student.

In response, former students have taken to social media to share their experiences. Some confirmed the allegations, while others expressed shock and disbelief.

Ayiro was a highly influential figure at the school, not just as a teacher, but also as a spiritual leader through his long-standing role in the Christian Union.

Devout Christian

His reputation as a devout Christian, along with ties to powerful evangelical networks beyond the school, further cemented his authority among students. He also served as the drama club patron.

Career coach and alumna Joan Nyambura Thuo is among the latest to react.

She recalled visiting the school in 2022 for a career talk and greeting Ayiro warmly, describing him as someone she deeply respected and admired.

"Obviously, I was so happy to see Mr Ayiro; he was someone I respected and held in very high regard. He started morning devotion when I was in high school, which was formative for my Christian journey. I'll probably need counselling to unpack this sea of emotions after the recent exposé on him. Disappointment, disgust, anger, shock, and confusion. What I fail to understand is - how did this go on for this long? His conscience was never troubled? I also never quite understood why he stayed at AGHS for over 20 years - he had the capacity to do much more."

"I needed to get out my DSM-5 because I need to understand, is it a case of Ephebophilia? Is he a psychopath? Or is he just a horrible human being? Was he even a believer? Like, what are we dealing with here? I'm sure there were age-appropriate girls at his church & social circles from 20 years ago - why target teenagers? Why risk your legacy?

"Obviously, Mr Ayiro is a genius. He married an old girl, got a house in Lang'ata, kept his bachelor pad at Alliance Girls, waited for the girls to finish high school, then it was finally time to harvest," the former student says.

She adds that the teacher had a preferred type of prey: "The petite, pretty, vulnerable, CU girls. You also needed to be an A student - he wasn't messing with B students. When your CU patron sexually grooms you for years, waits for you to finish high school, munches you, then discards you, si you'll just become an atheist," she adds.

Earlier Thursday, a group of women staged a protest outside the school, pushing for Mr Ayiro's arrest.

Ayiro is reported to have gone into hiding.
