President William Ruto has nominated several individuals to key positions within his administration.

In a statement on Thursday, Ruto nominated Mutahi Kagwe as the new Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Livestock, and Development, replacing Andrew Karanja, who has been proposed as Kenya's Ambassador to Brazil.

The announcements were detailed in a circular signed by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.

Among other nominations, former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui was proposed to lead the Ministry of Trade, while former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo was nominated to head the Ministry of Information, Communication, and Digital Economy.

The circular emphasised the President's commitment to optimising government performance and service delivery as part of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). It outlined the realignment of ministries, state departments, and the foreign service to address emerging challenges and advance national development goals.

Mutahi Kagwe, who gained prominence during Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration, is recognised for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. His tenure earned both national and international acclaim, bolstering his reputation in Kenyan politics.

Kagwe's extensive experience includes serving as a senator and playing a pivotal role in liberalising Kenya’s communication sector during President Mwai Kibaki.
