The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) has appointed Hitesh Mediratta as its new Board Chairperson for a two-year term.
Mediratta, who has served as KAM’s Vice Chairperson since 2024, takes over from Jane Karuku, whose tenure as Chairperson has come to an end.
Karuku, who is also the Group Managing Director of East African Breweries PLC (EABL), will remain on the KAM Board as an Ex-Officio member to provide strategic guidance.
In his remarks, Mediratta committed to focusing on strengthening the role of manufacturing in driving economic growth and industrialisation.
“I am honoured to serve as Chairperson of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers at a defining moment for Kenya's manufacturing sector,” Mediratta said.
“While global uncertainties continue to shape trade and supply chains, they also present an opportunity for Kenya and Africa to strengthen regional value chains and unlock the full potential of manufacturing as a driver of economic growth and industrialisation.”
He added that under his guidance, the association will continue advocating for policies that create a more supportive operating environment for manufacturers while addressing challenges affecting the sector.
“My priority will be to build on KAM's strong legacy of advocacy by creating a level playing field that enhances the competitiveness of Kenyan manufacturers both locally and globally. We shall continue to champion equitable value chains where all manufacturers have an opportunity to compete, grow and thrive, while advancing practical, evidence-based solutions to longstanding policy and tax challenges.”
He is also the Managing Director of PG Bison Kenya Limited, a furniture manufacturing company, where he has served for 21 years.
Within KAM, he previously chaired the Timber and Furniture Sector, served as Vice Chair of the Trade and Tax Board Committee and has been a Board Director since 2020.
Mediratta has also championed value chain-based approaches to policy and taxation, pushing for solutions aimed at supporting the sustainable growth of Kenya’s manufacturing ecosystem.
Mary-Ann Musangi, Managing Director of HACO Industries Kenya Limited, has been appointed the new KAM Vice Chairperson.
She currently leads the association’s Women in Manufacturing programme, focusing on increasing women’s participation, mentorship and leadership within the sector.
