Nairobi Water to cut supply from October 15 over unpaid bills

The company explained that despite multiple reminders and notices, a large number of accounts remain unsettled.

The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has warned that it will begin disconnecting water services for all consumers with outstanding bills starting October 15, 2025.

The move comes as part of a strict measure to recover overdue payments and ensure the sustainability of the water supply across the city.

The exercise will cover everyone, from households and businesses to government offices and water service providers, with no exceptions.

The company explained that despite multiple reminders and notices, a large number of accounts remain unsettled.

This has forced the company to take decisive action after all attempts at engagement failed. The enforcement drive is aimed at securing revenue needed to maintain both bulk and retail water services.

“This is a decisive enforcement measure to recover overdue arrears from all defaulting consumers,” said the company.

NCWSC reiterated that all consumers must settle their debts immediately to avoid disruption of their water supply.

Reconnection will only be processed after the full payment of outstanding balances. Consumers have been urged to use authorised channels for payment, including M-Pesa Pay Bill 444400, the NCWSC customer portal, partner banks, and official pay points.

“No institution or consumer is exempt from the enforcement measures,” the notice added.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe and reliable water services, but warned that this depends on timely payments by all users.

Acting Managing Director Martin Nang’ole stressed the urgency of the matter. “We therefore urge all affected parties to treat this notice with utmost urgency and take immediate corrective action.”

Customers needing clarification or assistance can reach the company through the hotlines 0800 724 366, 0724 253 582, and 0703 080 000.
