In a notice shared by the cooperation, the train will resume operations on the route on Monday 20, 2024.
The first train will leave the Ruiru station at 6 am and arrive at the Nairobi Central station at 7.30 am.
"We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to do everything possible to restore normalcy across the entire commuter service," reads the notice.
However, city residents of Kahawa West who commute by the 9 am train, have been left out of the new update as Kenya Railways cited that the commuter train remains suspended until further notice.
"In line with the normal schedule, the train will depart Ruiru station at 6.00 am and arrive at Nairobi Central station at 7.30 am. However, the Kahawa train that departs at 9.00 am from Kahawa West, remains suspended until further notice," the corporation said.
On May 2, 2024, Kenya Railways suspended on a temporary basis passenger train services from Nairobi to four satellite destinations due to the heavy rains recently witnessed across the country.
The company said it was compelled to take the precautionary measure for the sake of passengers' safety owing to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.
Five days later on May 7, 2024, the corporation announced the partial resumption of commuter train services after they were suspended due to the rains.
Kenya Railways said it had resumed services on the Embakasi Village to Lukenya route as well as the SGR Link train to Syokimau.
