Kenyan citizens will enjoy free access to national parks and museums on Jamhuri Day, according to an announcement by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua.
Kenyan citizens will enjoy free access to national parks and museums on Jamhuri Day, according to an announcement by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua. On December 12, 2023, as the country celebrates 60 years of independence, entrance fees will be waived for all national parks and museums.
In a statement posted on X, Mutua expressed that this initiative aligns with the collective pride of being Kenyan and the desire for everyone to appreciate the natural gifts bestowed upon the country. He highlighted Kenya's breathtaking landscapes, ranging from vast savannahs to pristine beaches and majestic mountains, showcasing the unparalleled beauty of the nation.

National parks covered by this initiative include Aberdare National Park, Amboseli National Park, Arabuko Sokoke National Park, Central Island National Park, Chyulu Hills National Park, Hell's Gate National Park, Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park, Kora National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, Malindi Marine National Park, Malka Mari National Park, Masai Mara National Park, Meru National Park, Mombasa Marine Park, Mount Elgon National Park, Mount Kenya National Park, Mount Longonot National Park, Nairobi National Park, Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park, Ruma National Park, Saiwa Swamp National Park, Sibiloi National Park, Tsavo East National Park, Tsavo West National Park, and Watamu Marine National Park.
Museums included in this initiative are Nairobi National Museum, Nairobi Railway Museum, Nairobi Snake Park, Narok Museum, Nyeri Museum, Olorgesailie Pre-Historic Site, Olorgesailie, Bomas of Kenya, Fort Jesus Museum (Mombasa), and Kariandusi Pre-Historic Site Museums, among others.
