The total exhumed bodies stand at 443, with the exercise continuing as families await closure.

Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor outlined the meticulous procedures contributing to the length of the investigation process during the exhumation of seven bodies from the Shakahola forest.

"In the investigation of a deceased individual, each stage from discovery to autopsy requires precise attention from specialised professionals," he explained.

He stressed the collaborative effort involving pathologists, morticians, and community members whose cultural insights are invaluable.

Dr Oduor highlighted the partnership with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and organisations like the Red Cross, leveraging diverse expertise from crime scene analysis to psychological support.

Once each agency completes its role, a comprehensive report is compiled for submission to court for public prosecution.
