Police launch probe after discovery of two bodies at Garissa sewage plant 

Both bodies were taken to the Garissa Referral Hospital mortuary for autopsies.

The bodies of two male adults who were positively identified were retrieved on Wednesday and Thursday in the case police reported as a murder incident.

In the Wednesday incident police reported that they received a report on Tuesday from one Michael Juma a resident of Boul Argy that an adult namely John Wanyonyi Makokha spotted a cloth belonging to the deceased identified as Remi Juma.

"On Wednesday at around 1000hrs, John Wanyonyi went back to the said location together with one Michael Juma and spotted the body of a dead person in the said sewage. The body was retrieved with blood oozing from his mouth and nose and was positively identified as the reported missing male adult aged 40 from Machimeru in Bungoma," reads the police report.

According to the report the scene was visited by Garissa Deputy sub-county Criminal Investigation Officer and Officer Commanding Iftin police station who established the deceased had a quarrel with one Tobias Wafula who was at large and who is suspected to have killed and dumped the deceased's body in the sewage.

The following day, police received another report from one Ben Wafula Munyendo, a resident of Boul Argy that he was informed by members of the public that a cap and slippers belonging to his brother - the suspect reported to be at large were seen at the bank of Bulla Argy sewage plant but failed to locate him.

The police report further states that at around 0600hrs, he went back to the said area and found a body floating near the place where he discovered the items of his brother.

"Upon close observation, he noticed that it was the body of his brother who was earlier reported missing after they engaged in a fight with the deceased whose body was discovered a day earlier.

According to police, both bodies were taken to the Garissa Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
